LifeGroups
LifeGroups are the foundation of AIA. It is our desire that every athlete involved in AIA get connected with a LifeGroup. While our outreach events and FUEL meetings aim to cultivate community, LifeGroups are specifically designed to create a transformational community. They are an opportunity to commit to a small group of fellow male or female athletes with whom you will meet weekly to discuss the Bible, to share the ups and downs of life, to bear each other’s burdens, and to hold each other accountable.
In order to serve these functions, it is important that those who join a LifeGroup are willing to be completely honest with their fellow members about their thoughts, feelings, and motivations…in short, their lives. LifeGroups seek to move past the superficial and ask those involved to do the same. Of course the reward for doing so are the incredible friendships you forge, friendships that will outlast your time behind these ivy walls.
LifeGroups are very free form and they vary significantly in their meeting time and their organization. Some consist of all Christians, others are primarily non-Christian; some focus primarily on Bible study, others serve more as accountability groups. But the bottom line is that they are fellow student-athletes who are sharing their lives and ultimately growing towards Jesus Christ.
